FAA Discontinues Funding for Complaint System
This is an Important Message from LAAHNC team:
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has discontinued funding of the Automated Complaint System (ACS). New funding is now being pursued through other channels, particularly the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. The ACS is only partially functioning currently.
In the meantime, the Los Angeles Area Helicopter Noise Coalition (LAAHNC) will continue its work toward the goal of reducing noise, but without the ACS fully functioning. We continue to meet monthly with helicopter pilot representatives to discuss egregious flights and problem areas.
Over the last several years, ACS has allowed the public to lodge complaints about helicopter operations anywhere in the Los Angeles County. Helicopter noise complaints were collected, recorded, and summarized in a centralized system. The information has been extremely valuable in assessing the frequency of helicopter annoyance and describing zones where helicopter noise is concentrated. It is important that complaint reporting capability be restored, as soon as funding can be secured.
Please stay tuned. Thank you very much for your past reports. We look forward to receiving your complaints in the future.
