Happy Birthday Covid 19 Style!
Born in 1930, 50 year Hollywoodlander Marcella Meharg a second generation native Angelino of Sicilian decent celebrated her 90th birthday in our Village. Friends and family sang her happy birthday while she was safely ensconced, sculpture-like, in cube, lovingly constructed by Eszter and Martin Betz.
Marcella attended Immaculate Heart High School and sister Corita was one of her teachers. She graduated from the Pasadena Playhouse, received a degree in Theatre Arts and a few years later, married Forrest Westbrook, a jazz pianist and had two daughters, Leslie and Yvonne.
She worked for many years for the County as a social worker and after early retirement, worked for Laura Huxely for 20 years, until Laura passed.
Marcella is a voracious reader and a playwright; I don’t know anyone who dislikes her, she is kind and generous. She has been a resident of Hollywoodland since 1971 and is especially fond of neighborhood kids Madeline and Charlie Kashkooli and Gily Hynes.
