We received the following letter from Councilman Ryus office:

Good Morning,
The report back from City departments regarding the strategies proposed in Dixon Resources Unlimited’s Comprehensive Strategies Report will be considered at the September 26th meeting of the Arts, Entertainment, Parks, & River Committee. The meeting will be held at 2:30 pm at City Hall. I will send out the room number once the agenda is posted.

Public comment can be made in person at the committee meeting or can be submitted for the public record to the Committee at Clerk. ArtsCommittee@lacity.org. Please include the Council file number 18-0057 in the subject line. You can view the Council file here and sign up for updates by clicking on the envelope icon at the top of the page.
The study, which was released on January 17, offers a total of 29 strategies to improve access to Griffith Park and trail heads, improve emergency vehicle access, expand transit options, enhance pedestrian safety, improve traffic flow & reduce congestion, increase parking efficiency and compliance rates and proactively manage visitors to the Park and Hollywood Sign. Data was collected through average daily traffic counts of both pedestrians and motor vehicles, occupancy of various trails, streets, and park areas, and by surveying visitors to the Park and Sign. You can find more information regarding the study and data here.
Thank you.

OUR NOTE TO YOU

The HHA has worked tirelessly with the Councilman since he took office to make him aware of all the safety issues occurring in Hollywoodland due to the unmitigated and unsupervised tourism in our residential neighborhood. Countless letters, emails and meetings detailing the chronic and widespread dangers from streets blocked by over-sized vehicles and cars overrunning our inferior infrastructure to smoking, urinating and trespassing. Yet all we heard was the same answer from the Councilman that he was working on a quarter million dollar comprehensive study.

Yet when the study was revealed earlier in the year it was apparent that safety for our neighborhood was the lowest priority to be addressed. In fact, aside from expanded PPD streets, additional signage and replanting sections of Mullholland much of the study dealt with how to better promote the sign.

The HHA was notified by CD4 that the City departments tasked with studying the feasibility of the Dixon plan have reported their findings. And guess what? They love it!! They are giving the go-ahead for shuttle buses to ferry tourists to the illegal vistas via our substandard streets, multiple ride-sharing drop-off locations, the sidewalk bulb-out at Beachwood and Glen Holly and more. Everything, except the one bright spot of admitting they cannot access the Hollyridge Trail through the Sunset Ranch gate.

The City Council’s Arts, Entertainment, Parks, & River Committee is holding yet ANOTHER hearing on the Dixon Report in the hopes of slowy and systemically wearing us down and ultimately prevailing in the destruction of our community through tourism, and fire danger.

We must fight.

PLEASE

We need as many residents at

to attend as possible.

In case it has not been made clear – the Dixon study does nothing to curtail the vehicular and pedestrian traffic influx we are now experiencing. It only additional layers of how to get tourists into our neighborhood.

If you cannot attend but want to send in your comments, please do so before the meeting. You must include this file number 18-0057. Your eMail should be to this committee should be sent to Clerk.ArtsCommittee@lacity.org and please send us a copy at info@Hollywoodland.org
